The problem these teams run deep into the tournament; the teams they face are two dimensional. These teams play great defense also, but have the ability to score in flurries. A lot of people keep playing UCLA to win the title in their polls. Most of these people don’t even know why. Then you have Carolina, who doesn’t play great defense. Memphis and Kansas are both two dimensional, and its no surprise its down too these two teams. To evaluate Memphis, you have to evaluate each individual player rather than their level of competition. Beating UCLA is not a good gauge. Its hard for the average guy to evaluate them, because they beat everyone they played, and that’s their schedule. They had a schedule, and they walked right through it, with exception of Tennessee. However, very impressive that they beat Texas the way they did. Michigan St was terrible all year, so that’s no gauge. Here we are in the final game, and most do not know how good Memphis really is. Only way they will know, is once the score goes final. This is why Memphis backers wont wager with a lot of money on them. The recreation bettors that is. As for Kansas, whether they win or lose you already know how good they are by their level of competition. If Kansas loses, people will still say Kansas was a very strong team.
